Kitty approved play house

I recently got the DIY Cardboard Cat House for my two cats, and I have to say, it's been a hit! Right out of the box, I noticed how easy it was to assemble—just a few simple steps and I had it set up in no time. The multi-level design is really impressive. It gives my cats plenty of space to explore and lounge around. They love the scratching posts and the tunnel, which they zoom through like it’s their personal racetrack! This house is alot more stable than their last one was, especially the way each piece is connected. The last one was held together with cardboard pieces and this one comes with what looks like drywall anchors. They can connected two boxed easily and keeps is stable, secure and safe. One thing I really appreciate is that it’s made from recyclable materials. It feels good to have something that won't harm the environment, plus the Kraft brown color gives it a nice, rustic look that fits in well with my home decor. The size is perfect too; it stands tall but doesn’t take over the room, which is a bonus. Only negative I have found is the size of each individual cube is smaller than my last one and my bigger cats cant fit all the way in.Both my kittens and the older cat have taken to it. The scratching pad is a huge plus; there’s no need for them to claw at my furniture anymore! It’s surprisingly sturdy for being cardboard, and I can see it holding up well over time, especially since it’s designed for both kittens and adult cats.Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable and creative way to keep your cats entertained, this cat house is definitely worth considering! My cats are happy, and so am I!

Allows for variation

The assembly is easy enough if not terribly tedious. They do provide gloves so you don't get a bunch of cardboard cuts. Relatively sturdy once put together, and thankfully very amenable to how you want to set it up. Because I'm in a small Studio I don't have a lot of space so I opted to do side by side instead of three boxes out. The size can be either space taking as you would like or as minimalistic as you would like. This ability to vary the design makes it extremely functionable for all sorts of housing. Seems relatively stable but my cat has not put it through the test yet. With that said as long as you stick to the under 33 lb weight limit it seems very stable. The four stars comes because of the value for money part anyone could essentially create this you're literally paying the fee of not having to worry about sticking boxes together with intricate tabs. The corrugated scratch ramps on the other hand give a little bit more value to the cost because of how expensive they are in general, but since there's no way to really keep the scratch pad on the ramps that is not the stabilist part. Stability 3 out of 5 stars.

It feels like I'm building a giant cat scratching puzzle system

This comes in SEVERAL pieces. It's like assembling a large cardboard puzzle. I unpacked it yesterday and there are so many cardboard sections to remove from plastic bags and the tabs need to be folded and cut out openings need the cut out sections pushed out. There are four jute covered posts and a bag of plastic push in connectors and metal bolts and washers plus zip ties. My first impression is that it is packaged well and the parts look of good quality. BUT be aware this product requires a whole lot of assembly time. I spent an hour unpacking most of the pieces but had to quit so I could tackle the rest of the assembly the next day. I wasn't prepared for so much assembling and I've had other PalsNests products and was always pleased with them. So while I continue to build this multi-level cat tree tower I can see that it's better suited for small cats or kittens. My son's cats are big at 15lbs and 20lbs and I can see that they will have fun destroying this product as it's way too small for them. They like the box it came in as it folds into a large house for cats to crawl into. It comes with a large sheet of instructions with pictures of the pieces. So if you like to assemble stuff or just love puzzles this will be a fun project. But for me it's still a work in progress. I will continue to work on this item but just be aware it involves a lot of physical work to prep for assembling. My initial impressions as I unpacked the product pieces and ready it for final assembly the materials feel of very good quality and durability. It's super well packed and all items including parts/tools are well sorted and securely bagged. I changed my rating from four to five stars after taking a well earned break and giving more thought about the true quality of this product. It was a huge surprise how heavy the package was when it arrived. Given the clever design and uniqueness of the product, it's going to provide any cat with endless hours of scratching and stretching out for nap time. So if you have cats that LOVE scratching this will make them extremely happy and hopefully a great diversion from scratching furniture. .

Surprisingly Fun, Eco-Friendly, and a Hit with My Cats but Pricey

I was a little skeptical about a cardboard cat tree at first, but this has turned out to be a pretty enjoyable experience for my cats.Right out of the box, (not a big box, see pic) the design impressed me. It combines a scratching board, tunnel, and playhouse all into one tall structure, which keeps things interesting for them without taking up more floor space than necessary. The height (just under 49 inches) gives them a nice vertical playground, and the platforms are well-spaced for climbing, lounging, and surveying their kingdom. The scratching surfaces are the real MVP. My cats immediately ditched the couch (finally!) and started going to town on the posts and board. The tunnel and enclosed playhouse are also a big hit—perfect for hiding, ambushing each other, or napping in peace. I have both adult cats and a kitten, and it supports them all comfortably, including my medium-sized 12-pounder who climbs it daily with no issues.Assembly was easier than expected but kinda tedious. The pieces slot together logically, and I had it built in about 15–20 minutes. It’s lightweight, so I can move it around easily, though you may want to place it against a wall if your cat likes parkour-level launches.A few considerations:It is cardboard, so it won’t last as long as wood or carpeted trees if your cats are aggressive scratchers—but that’s the trade-off for being recyclable and eco-friendly.Some edges can show wear faster than others depending on use.Best suited for kittens and medium cats, not large or extra-heavy breeds.Final verdict: lightweight, creativity, and environmental bonus, this cat tree delivers. My cats love it, it saves my furniture, and I love that it’s recyclable when it eventually retires. If you want something fun, functional, and guilt-free, this is absolutely worth trying. Loses a star because I think it can be priced better.

Looks really nice!

don't put the ramps on until you fasten the triangle to a square. also use the flat part of a plastic putty knife to push the back of the buckles together. .works wonderful! cats had to be locked up in the back part of the house while my daughter's dogs were with us and this solved their boredom! had fun putting it together!

Not a house of cards, pretty decent!

For being made entirely out of cardboard, it's actually a really decent size and is more sturdy than I thought. I imagined it would fold like a house of cards with a chonky cat jumping and playing all over it but it holds up really nice! The assembly was rather easy and mostly comprehensible. My cats love it and seem to have tons of fun just lounging in it. The only thing I can think that's a knock is that I wish there were a way to secure the scratch pads to the unit itself. The way they just sort of sit inside the unit makes it easy for cats to just pull it out when they use it as intended. It does look nice once assembled though. Decent value for money but don't expect a ton of longevity, especially if you have multiple cats.

Sturdy, Recyclable, and Packed with Features: The Ultimate Cat Playhouse

I was incredibly impressed with how much the PalNests DIY Cardboard Cat House improved my cats' indoor environment. If you are looking for a sustainable alternative to traditional carpeted towers that often trap hair and odors, this is the exact solution you need. The multi-level design is fantastic, combining a tunnel, playhouse, and multiple scratching surfaces into one massive structure that keeps both kittens and adults engaged for hours. The build quality is excellent. Despite being made of cardboard, the heavy-duty, recyclable material feels rugged and stable once assembled, supporting the weight of larger cats without wobbling. It fits perfectly into a playroom or living area, measuring a generous 48.8" x 25" x 40.16", providing a secure, private retreat for napping and climbing. The installation—while a fun DIY project—is straightforward thanks to the precise cutouts that ensure a flush, sturdy fit for every panel.I was most surprised and pleased by the inclusion of the integrated scratching pads and posts. Unlike standalone scratchers that slide across the floor, these are built directly into the frame, allowing cats to stretch and sharpen their claws safely. It looks sleek in its natural Kraft Brown finish, which fits a modern minimalist aesthetic while being completely biodegradable when it's finally time for a replacement. This cat house offers a wonderful blend of practical engineering and amazing value for multi-cat households. It’s absolutely worth the price, and I highly recommend it to any pet owner looking to maximize their cat's vertical space and scratching options.
